Already has been almost two months after year 2020 began. The whole world is in panic because of the Corona Virus, and in this time, we can see how small we are without God. God is still working in the midst of the confusion, darkness. These past three weeks, we could see how God is working within us. I'm so excited to share all our stories here.
Dreams come true - Korea Short term mission team
Exactly 1 year had passed since we started ministry in UCR. During the second semester, we had some difficulties while we were leading the ministry. (sorry that I can't share details) That's why I had so much worries as I arrange this team. Also I had to talk to myself over and over again that don't be disappointed even though we wouldn't be able to see the good results... Because of my unbelif, I and my team had been preparing this time so much, with many other opcions. HOWEVER!! during three weeks, we were confessiong that God is working...
What we had done was basically we divided our Cru students by three groups and Korean students by three groups, so we made three groups mixed with Ticos and Koreans. We asked Ticos to invite their friends who wants to meet Koreans or who might be interested in campus ministry, and we asked Koreans to invite friends whom they get to know through evangelism. Koreans tried a lot to be a true friend with Ticos (Costarica Students) withing a group and share the love of Jesus.
Many of the students here confessed that they could see the true love of God through Korean students and opened a lot their hearts towards the evangelism and discipleship.
There is a student whose name is Wen. I met her by evangelism in the beginning of the ministry... she really had passion for God but didn't have much time, because she had to help her parents' business. (Supermarket which is never close throughout the year) She just finished LTC Basic and went to evangelize with me for the first time in her life. At the second time of talking, she met one girl name Jasmin. At first, she said she is a Christian, but later, we found out that we just started believe in Jesus by Internet all by herself, but didn't know how to start the Christian life. During the small conference that we had with Koreans and Ticos together, Jasmin did the testimony how God's timing is perfect that she met Wen and me at that moment and could start the discipleship with her. Through this time, I could see because of Wen, Jasmin could find the way to grow in God, but Also because of Jasmin, heart of the Wen also had been changed so much.
During the conference, the Korean students made a plan to wash the Tico's feet just like Jesus did to his disciples. There is a student whose name is Issac. When I met Issac for the first time, he said that he doesn't believe in God, but doesn't know why but everytime he has hardtimes, he prays in God. But he still insisted that he is not a Christian. However, he loved to be in Cru to have reunion, soccer all types of meeting. He also came to conference, and at the second night when one of the Korean student who had been with him washed his feet, he cried and cried and I could see that God is working strongly in his heart.
It was so short time, but through this short time, we could see that we are bonding each other in the midst of the community. And I'm so excited to start new semester in year 2020.
Towards another dream - Mexico national conference
As I start ministry in Costa Rica, I had some dreams that I want to see during the time that I'm here. 1. to see the movement building up (fulfilled!) 2. to see the campus conference when the korean team comes. (just fulfilled!!) 3. to go to the Mexico National Conference with Costa Rica Students - I was thinking that it would be so amazing to see when the students of two countries meet up together and spend time together... 4. and to see the Costa Rica National Conference. Therefore, this year, I challenged to go to the Mexico with some of the student leaders and two students raised hands to go with us. Therefore, my family, two Korean stinter and two students will be going. Mexico itself is so special place for us, and I'm expecting God will prepare our heart to step up to higher level. Especially, I'm praying for the special prayer and financial support for this time.
Explo 2020 in Korea
It has been 70 years after the Korean war and Korea CCC will have the Explo 2020 in Imjingak (the border of North and South Korea) to pray for the reunification of Korea. Korea CCC has invited many people from other countries, and Cru lac (Latin America Cru) also wants to participate there. Therefore, I became the communicator between Korea CCC and Crulac to mobilize the people to go, and arrange all the process of going to Korea. I might be hard to go to Korea due to school of my sons, but my husband might go. It had been so long time to start working on communicating, so I'm kind of excited and nervous in the same time. Therefore, I need your prayer, and pray for the people who will be there from Crulac.
Family Story
Now, Sam is 2nd grade in elementary school and when I see his books, I feel like I won't be teaching him the subjects in Spanish any more... He still loves to play soccer and loves to go to school (except swimming class). Nathan also loves his school and friends there. Since, he was staying at home with me until he was 3, he had little bit of difficulties to speak Spanish in the unfamilier circumstance, so he didn't express himself by talking for the whole first semester, but at the second semester, he started to talk in Spanish, English and Korean. I will be working in the Campus as usual but will be working in the office once a week also. After the team left, kids also started their school and we came back to normal life. Hoping that we can be more love - reflected family in this year.
