Harvest Home/Costa Rica - LAC Mission

News Letter 2019.5

Celebration Day

Jan & Feb of year 2019 was little lonely and sad months in the midst of adaptation in Cru Office and Sam also had hard time getting used to his school life in Costa Rica. There were no problems in our lives but there were sadness in deep of my heart. In March, finally, the campus where we need to do ministry, UCR started its semester, and thankfully, the 7 of Korean team came to help us. Literally there were 0 members in UCR and everyday, whenever we go to campus, we had to face the feeling of nervous and tention. But we could do this work again by the grace of God and by the prayers of everyone who read this right now.

"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day -- and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing."

Perfect combination of Korean and Mexican team

Starting Campus Ministry with A6 Project team

This time was my fifth campus ministry throughout my Cru life (Kyung Ki University - University in East Asia, Kyunghee University - Mexico UNAM - UCR Costa Rica). I'm just so thankful for God for giving me special opportunity everytime. This time, it was pioneering from zero base... I had to confess that I would not be able to do this without help of Korean team. Also even more, my disciples in Mexico, they also came to Costa Rica as a mission trip to help my ministry in Costa Rica. They had done so wonderful job working with Koreans. Thanks to their commitment, we were able to contact many students, and could have good relationship with them, and could get good resources of student leader. There are so many stories that I can't even mention in this letter. We had contacted more than 560 students, shared gospel to 170, and 70 of them recieved name of Jesus. Among them, we had started dicipleship with 50 students, and 19 had finished "Leadership Training Course", 14 had finished "Multiplying Dicipleship Training". Now 5 of students have their own disciples and 2 students committed as a student leader in UCR. I always felt like we were alone, but there were no time that God made us alone... always had sent us teams, people, words of encouragements, and prayers. Now, I have more than 10 discipleship. Praise the Lord.

There are a few things that God made me realize through this time.

1. It is such a great blessing to be in the midst of the field

2. Even though campus ministry is hard, we can meet at least one student who says she or he is interested in our ministry.

3. Ministry can be a movement through the relationship that we could build by the love and trust.

Again, we are building Mission Center in Costa Rica

Just like we had vision center in Mexico, we decided to have mission center in Costa Rica, too. In August, the Stint from Korea will come and one of the staff from A6 team will also join in our ministry again in August. We found a great house for two of them and we can use that house as a mission center. For this, we need 3 months of rent (750$ per month) and cost to buy all the thing that need for living. We are praying that this place can be used for the training, gathering, praying, and sharing.

Family Story

After Mexican team had left, my parents came to visit us before they go to Korea from US. Since they were here with us, I was able to focus on campus and spend more time in the campus. Sam and Nathan love time with their grandparents and they are doing great in their schools.

There are two main reason for us to come to Costa Rica which is doing campus ministry in Costa Rica and be a communicator between Korea Cru and Cru Lac. So now, I was doing the first assignment and hopefully I would be able to do second assignment, too. Hoping that many other countries in Latin America could have partnership with Korea to build campus ministry in their country. This year, there will be another A6 project in Colombia Cali and Panama. Also there will be short term mission team in Guatemala and Colombia Medellin from Korea. I'm so excited to work on those projects and still need prayers.
